Why Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma improvements create more value with less work, reduce the process cycle time, reduce errors, and reduce variation in the process. The goal is to optimize the end-to-end process. Typical time frame from problem identification to solution implementation is 4-6 months.

Why Kaizen?

Kaizen Events provide significant, clear, and quick improvements to a localized part of an end-to-end process. The execution is dramatic and the results are seen immediately after the event. Typical time frame from problem identification to solution implementation is 1-2 months.

Why Barker & Barker?

We strive to be trusted advisors that increase our client's profitability by optimizing business processes and delivering Lean Six Sigma training. We deliver results before we are paid. All staff members are Certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belts or Six Sigma Black Belts.

What is Lean Six Sigma?

Lean Six Sigma is a business improvement methodology which combines (as the name implies) tools from both Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.  Lean focuses on increasing speed and traditional Six Sigma focuses on improving quality.  By combining the two, the result is better quality faster.  This results in improved operational efficiencies in existing processes, new processes developed with high operational efficiencies, and increased profits.

What Do We Do?

Our team brings expert Lean Six Sigma experience, rigorous analytical capabilities, and professional facilitation skills to help our clients optimize their business. We conduct statistical root cause analysis of our clients' business problems, facilitate data driven discussions, and assist in implementing improvements that will lead to a more optimized business. After the solutions are implemented, we maintain a relationship with our clients to help them maximize their expected benefits. As a result, our clients see an increase in revenue, decrease in operational expenses, higher employee morale, and increased customer satisfaction.

Our process improvement and problem solving capabilities can be applied to all industries. Our team has experience leading process improvement projects for the Department of Defense and multiple Fortune 500 companies. Some of these companies include:

Motorola                                             Bank of America                  Aurora Health Care                      Sinai Health System (Chicago)

Black & Decker                                   Home Depot                        Texas Instrument                         Guidant Corporation

Members on our team have consulted Applied Physics Laboratory project teams at John Hopkins University, University of Texas at Austin, Penn State University, and Scripps Institute of Oceanography on various Research and Development projects.

By using a virtual approach to having this expertise, our clients have access to Lean Six Sigma experts without the labor overhead on their budget. For projects that increase revenue or decrease operating costs, there is no charge until the client sees results.  For projects that do not directly affect Profit and Loss categories, there is a fair hourly charge.
